Local Resources

The Sanilac District Library in Port Sanilac has an excellent Aviation Section, and a good selection of Aviation material. It can be borrowed directly or obtained through the Inter-Library loan program.

Internet Aviation Resources

Interested in aviation or aviation education? Check out the links below.

  • Civil Air Patrol (CAP) is the civilian Auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force. For over 60 years, CAP has promoted Aerospace Education through Cadet Programs and provided Emergency Services. CAP is represented both locally (Sanilac Composite Squadron) and it's National Operations Center.
  • EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) Leading organization of recreational aviation.
  • The EAA Aviation Education Directory is a collection of aerospace educational web sites that can be referenced in electronic form via the Internet. This resource includes over 200 aerospace educational web sites that represents all 50 States as well as numerous other countries. Aerospace educational materials and resources are accessible through these web sites.
  • The Aerospace Education Foundation is an affiliate of the Air Force Association and dedicated to ensuring America's aerospace excellence through public awareness programs, education and financial assistance.
  • Air Traffic Control System Command Center is the real-time airport status page from the FAA. Be careful which buttons you press while your at this site! Also includes a link to the FAA Homepage.
  • Michigan Bureau of Aeronautics - Find out what's happening in regard to aeronautics in Michigan. A great bunch of folks.
  • Air & Space Smithsonian Magazine, one of best aviation / aerospace magazines around.
  • Kalamazoo Air Zoo - lesser known as The Kalamazoo Aviation History Museum. One of the finest aviation museums in the world. But the best thing - it's right here in Michigan.
  • AOPA is home to the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association on-line.
  • AvWeb is the Internet's Aviation Magazine and News Service. A pretty good read, the writing is almost as snappy as on this site.
  • Aviation Safety Network focuses on aviation safety issues and accidents reports.
  • Fly Away is one of the most popular Flight Simulation Portals on the web. They have the latest Flight Simulator news, product and hardware reviews, the latest downloads and updates for flight simulator and of course their bustling FS forums.
  • National Air & Space Museum in Washington D.C. Companion site to the Air & Space Smithsonian Magazine.
  • U.S. Air Force Museum, in Dayton, Ohio. One of the best museums anywhere. See on-line what you're missing, if you haven't been there.
  • King Schools - If you're thinking about taking flying lessons, make sure to stop by for a visit with John and Martha. Arguably the best flight training videos available (although the guys at the next link would dispute that claim).
  • Sporty's - No list of aviation resources would be complete without a link to Sporty's Pilot Shop. If you're a pilot and you don't get a Sporty's catalog (or should I say several), you better check your pulse.
  • Mary Creason's Aviation Website - Since 1943, Mary Creason has been a positive influence on aviation, and a leading advocate of Aviation Education. Her Website is a great aviation resource.
